Upload Settings

If you own a Web site, Newsletter Ease helps you place your content online.

You access Web site settings through the Tools menu on the main window

(Tools > Upload Settings).

Click the Add Web Location button to create a new site. This launches the

New Upload Settings Wizard.

Explanation of the Upload Settings values

Descriptive Name:

This is any meaningful name that you wish to use when you reference the Web

Site Settings on other screens in Newsletter Ease.

Host:

This is either a domain address, such as 'www.newsletterease.com' or

'ftp.yoursite.com', or an IP address, such as '127.0.0.1', which points to your Web

site.

Web Site Address:

This is the address others would enter when they want to browse to your Web

site, such as 'http:///www.yoursite.com'. It's very important that this address be

correct and contains 'http://' at the start of it. Newsletter Ease uses the Web Site

URL to correctly reference pictures that you insert into your articles.

User ID:

The company that hosts your Web site would supply this value. Newsletter Ease

cannot help you find the correct value. If you have questions about this, you

should contact your Web hosting company for better information.

Password:

Like User ID, the company that hosts your Web site would supply this value.

Newsletter Ease cannot help you find the correct value. If you have questions

about this, you should contact your Web hosting company for better information.

Account:

your Web site comes through the home page area provided to you through your

Internet Service Provider (ISP), you may need to specify an account.

For example, if your account name was 'becky110' and the address for your ISP's

home pages is 'http://home.yourisp.com', then your Web Site URL would

probably be 'http://home.yourisp.com/becky110' or

Home Page Folder:

Some Web hosting companies require you to change to a different folder after

connecting to your Web site for uploading a file. Folders like this are commonly

named 'Web' or 'html' or 'public'. We call this type of requirement downward

navigation because you need to move down the folder tree to get to the right

folder on your Web site.

Less often, you could be required to navigate both upward and downward to get

to the right folder. These movements are entered into this box as '..' (two

periods). For example, if your Web site requires you to navigate up two folders

and then downward to a folder named 'html', you would enter this:

html.

As mentioned, it's infrequent this field requires any entry, so unless you are

confident that an entry is needed, leave this blank.

Click and then click to connect to your Web site.

Once you enter your settings, you'll see the following window.

If your connection succeeds, you'll see a tree of folders on the left side of the

window and a single entry on the right side of the window. The left side presents

all of the folders found on your Web site, while the right side displays the folders

you intend to use with Newsletter Ease when uploading content to your Web site.

To add a publish folder to your settings, locate the folder on the left-hand side

and click the '>>' button to enter it on the right side, as you see here.

The topmost folder on the right side will be the default folder.

When finished, click

Setting the Default Web Site for Publication

To set a Publication to use these settings as a default, first find the Publication in

the navigation tree on the left side of the main window. Select the Publication.

Then click in the upper corner of the right-hand pane.

Use the drop-down menu to choose the appropriate Web Site. Then choose the

Web Site Folder. This selects the default location where Newsletter Ease will

upload content.

To change the publication location for a specific issue, select the alternate

location as you publish.

Click on beside Upload Issue.
